AstroCalc 3.0 for Windows - For What's Happening in the Sky!
Input time, date and latitude and longitude and get for the sun, moon,
and all planets: Right Ascension & Declination, Altitude & Azimuth,
Ecliptic Latitude & Longitude, Angular Size, Degrees or Arc Seconds, Phase,
Fraction Illuminated, Elongation from Sun, Orbital Elements, Rise/Set Times,
Brightness, Distances from Sun and Earth, Plus local and sidereal times, GMT and GST, equation of time, twilight times. All basic astronomical data (heliocentric
& geocentric). Automatic repetitive calculations. Get output as ASCII file.
Displays of RA & DEC views, Alt. & Azim., heliocentric or geocentric
overhead and more!
High resolution multi-color plots of the Sun, Moon and all planets. You get output on screen or to printers. You can choose from 6 types of graphs: Heliocentric Longitude and Solar Distance, Heliocentric Latitude and Solar Distance, Geocentric Longitude and Distance, Geocentric Latitude and Distance, Right Ascension and Declination, Altitude and Azimuth. For any plot you choose starting date and increment (hourly, daily, yearly, etc.) then get results graphed. You can choose to plot only one or any combination of several objects. Great way to survey the astronomical past, present and future!
Besides the plotting features, you can also save selective output configuration files to disk. Choose and re-use the ones you need later for faster use. And for output to ASCII data files, there is an alternate compact format for output that saves disk space when generating large amounts of data.
With AstroCalc you can carry out many investigations of the sky for the Sun, Moon and all planets. Use any of 16 possible automatic search modes to get the astronomical answers you need! Set automatic searches to find the dates and times when events that you specify occur. For example you can find when the Sun, Moon or any planet is in a specified part of the sky. The search area can be defined by Right Ascension/Declination or by Altitude/Azimuth.
Also find the angular separation in the sky between any two bodies. Use 0.0 degrees separation for conjunctions, 180 for oppositions or any separation angle. For the events found, get dates and times on-screen, to the printer or to a disk file. Let your computer do all the work! Other searches include: heliocentric longitude, latitude or distance, geocentric longitude, latitude or distance, rise or set times, angular size, phase (fraction illuminated), elongation from the Sun, and the brightness magnitude.
Easily scan the past, present and future for astronomical events. Graphic displays used for RA/Dec, Alt/Az & Separation searches. Save and retrieve screen images. Choose from 16 colors to assign to the screen background, foreground text & color of the objects (Sun, Moon, Mercury, etc.). On-line help screens.
There is a built-in location database of several thousand cities around the world. Includes city name, longitude and latitude. Just click on the city you want and the location data is automatically entered into the program. Search modes are organized for quick setup of any of the many possible options. Get work done faster! The support for printers includes almost any printer made (including color printers) using the Windows interface.
There are added convenience features like the calendar that can be used anytime, the calculator for handy use, the text editor for viewing output files, the graphical file viewer plus more on-line help and Info buttons to bring up details of use for most program windows. You will get lots of astronomical work done easily!
